The participants of the Universal Design 2024 conference (abbreviated as UD2024), which was held in Oslo (Norway) in Autumn 2024, formulated the so-called Norway Declaration (link opens in new tab). The Declaration says, among other, that universal design is an important measure in order to achieve inclusion of diverse society groups.
We in the Digital Inclusion Group at Norsk Regnesentral support the Declaration to the fullest extent.
Our and other research shows that the universal design of ICT solutions is a perfectly suitable strategy to counter digital exclusion. We do hope that the Norway Declaration becomes known to a wider audience and contributes to the effort towards more inclusive societies.
